This eagle (left) was created by Russian vegetable carver Vadim Nefedjev from various
fruits. The frogs on the right were created using cucumber,s with their tongues and
eyes made from pieces of carrot.

          <br />
          <br />
If your painting ability is questionable then there could still be hope.
<br />
Perhaps you might not make a major exhibit but you may someday
<br />
produce something that could go on display in the <a href="http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/872669-disasterpiece-of-mona-lisa-finds-home-in-museum-of-bad-art">Museum
of Bad Art</a>.
<br />
Masterpieces on display there include this reproduction of the Mona Lisa
<br />
and are mainly rescued from bins or donated by art critics.
<br />
The works must be original, sincere and interesting and they must try to
<br />
communicate something, even if we are not sure what that something is.
<br />
The museum based in Boston Massachusetts was opened by Scott Wilson
<br />
and now has three separate galleries attracting 8,000 visitors a year.
<br />
I feel a masterpiece coming on.

sharpenings</a> to create portraits. Kyle Bean saves all his pencil shavings to create
the pictures. The shavings are put into place using a set of tweezers with each shaving
being positioned individually. It just goes to show you make art of practically anything.

This interesting looking sculpture has been created by artist
<br /><a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1380395/No-room-slip-ups-Japanese-artist-gains-cult-following-sculptures-crafted-bananas.html?ITO=1490">Keisuke
Yamada</a> who likes to carve faces out of bananas.
<br />
He uses a toothpick and a spoon to create the faces which
<br />
take about half an hour to perfect. When he is finished he
<br />
takes a picture of the completed piece before eating it.
<br />
So far he has created 11 pieces including skulls and dragons.
<br />
It will be interesting to see what else he comes up with and
<br />
indeed whether he starts to get sick of eating bananas
<br />
and moves onto other fruit.

sculptures out out of shoes</a>. The artist from Tel Aviv, Israel spends about a week
making each sculpture by hand and all the finished pieces are supposed to still be
wearable. They are certainly interesting and I’m sure you would create an impact with
one of these designs that looks like a swan, slingshot or children’s slide. I quite
like the toucan ones.

An artist is installing 38 giant roses across ten blocks in Manhattan as part of a
floral project. The roses are made of plaster, wire mesh, PVC tubing, steel, fibreglass
resin and brass and are complete with bees, ladybirds, aphids and beetles. The project
has been created by artist Will Ryman along Park Avenue between 57th Street and 67th
Street. Each installation includes up to six painted roses that stands around 25ft
high. The whole project has cost about $1 million to create.

An artist has created what is thought to be the <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/8072270/Worlds-largest-toast-mosaic-dedicated-to-mother-in-laws-face.html">world’s
largest toast mosaic</a>. The mosaic which is an image of her mother in laws face
uses 9,852 slices, that's around 600 loaves of bread. It took six hours to create
using nine toasters to brown the bread before arranging them into the image. The Finished
mosaic measures 32ft by 42ft beating the previous record which was 29ft 2ins by 44ft
11ins.

A Turner painting depicting the city of Rome has <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2010/jul/07/getty-museum-buys-turner-painting-record">recently
sold for £29.7 million</a>, a record amount for eh British artist. The painting Turner’s
Modern Rome has been brought by a London dealer on behalf of the J Paul Getty Museum
in Los Angeles, California. It was painted in 1839 and has been described by experts
as Turner’s finest view of a Italian city. It has only been sold once before on the
open market back in the last 172 years. It was previously owned by a descendant of
the 5th Earl of Rosebery,who bought it in 1878 whilst on his honeymoon and before
that by Scottish landowner and collector Hugh Munro of Novar who brought it directly
from the artists exhibition.

A public toilet in Northumberland has been turned into an <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tyne/8656939.stm">arts
venue</a> for the next five months. The arts project will highlight the country’s
wildlife. The outside of the lavatory will be revamped with images of birds including
an eider duck and a yellowhammer. The project has been developed by Inspire Northumberland
and the Seahouses Development Trust.

          </a> Floppy
disks are not really good for much these days but one artist has been putting them
to good use.  Nick Gentry uses old floppy disks to create his pictures incorporating
them into the artwork itself by using them as a canvas. Anything from 6 to more than
100 disks are used to create each picture depending upon the size. You can see one
example to the left here but for others take a look at <a href="http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/02/art-floppy-disks/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+wired%2Findex+%28Wired%3A+Index+3+%28Top+Stories+2%29%29">this
article</a>.
